Visions from Cape Breton and Beyond: A Celtic Family Celebration starring Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy

"To call Natalie MacMaster the most dynamic performer in Celtic music today is high praise, but it still doesn't get at just how remarkable a concert artist this Cape Breton Island fiddler has become." - The Boston Herald
In this brand new show starring Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, prepare to be taken on a journey across the coastline of Nova Scotia as the fiddling family explores their Celtic roots. Individually celebrated as two of the greatest fiddlers in the world, MacMaster and Leahy have now come together and combined their talents in this breathtaking musical performance that masterfully integrates the duo’s diverse French, Celtic, and Cajun musical styles.

An award-winning Canadian fiddler, Natalie MacMaster began playing at the age of nine and released her first album, Four on the Floor, at the age sixteen. She has received numerous awards of her artistic career, including Artist of the Year award from the East Coast Music Association and an induction into the Order of Canada. Her style, the Cape Breton fiddle style, is tied to her Celtic roots and is often associated with the Cape Breton version of step dancing, line dancing, and highland dancing. Over the years, MacMaster has toured with a number of major artists, including Alison Krauss, Carlos Santana, and Yo-Yo Ma. Her husband, Donnell Leahy is the leader of the famous musical family group, Leahy, featuring eight brothers and sisters. Leahy toured as the opening act for country singer Shania Twain’s “Come On Over” world tour and earned a number of Juno Awards for Best New Group, Best Instrumental Album, and more.

Visions from Cape Breton and Beyond brings the powerful fiddlers together for a night that explores their musical and familial roots. Featuring MacMaster and Leahy’s children as well as professional dancers and singers from Cape Breton and Lakefield, Ontario, the production incorporates song, dance, and fiddling all together. The family of fiddlers will perform in front of a background showcasing the beauty of the Canadian coastline, from the vistas of Nova Scotia to the gorgeous island of Cape Breton.
