An Evening with David Crosby and Friends – The Lighthouse Tour

Folk music icon David Crosby will perform at The Lyric Theatre this season in an evening of inventive songwriting, powerful vocals, and unmatched guitar work. Celebrating the recent release of Crosby's solo album Lighthouse, David Crosby and Friends, featuring Michael League, Becca Stevens and Michelle Willis, will perform songs off of the album, such as "Paint a Picture," as well as some of Crosby's biggest hits over the past decades, such as "Music is Love" and "Eight Miles High."

Born in Los Angeles in 1941, David Crosby originally dreamed of becoming an actor. It wasn't until the early 1960s that Crosby realized his true passion was music. In 1964, Crosby joined the rock band, The Byrds, along with Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark. The group rocketed to popularity, with hits such as "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man." Despite the group's early success, David Crosby left the Byrds in 1967 and formed Crosby, Stills, and Nash. The new trio proved successful as well, as songs including "Guinevere" and "Wooden Ships" became folk classics. The group's debut, self-titled album was included on Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. After Neil Young joined the group in 1969, CSNY continued their success and their album Deja Vu hit #1 on the Billboard charts.

By 1971, David Crosby had decided to embark on a solo career, releasing his first album If Only I Could Remember My Name, which featured guest appearances by Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and Jerry Garcia among others. In 2014, Crosby released Croz, his first solo album in 20 years. Featuring guests Wynton Marsalis and Mark Knopfler, Croz entered the Billboard Charts in an astonishing five different categories, proving that the legendary folk icon showed no signs of stopping.

Now, two years later, Crosby has released Lighthouse, his latest, and more intimate solo release. A 9-song collection, Lighthouse was produced and co-written by Michael League, the bandleader and bassist for Snarky Puppy. Recorded at Groove Masters in Santa Monica, the album features many of the honest lyrics and political messages that David Crosby is known for. This season at The Lyric, David Crosby and Friends will perform works off of Crosby's latest album Lighthouse, as well as a number of his greatest hits from the 1960s and beyond.
