Savannah Jack

From playing in Nashville bars to becoming national stars, country music band Savannah Jack has delighted audiences from Texas to New Jersey with their tight three-part vocal harmonies and wild, southern attitude. A favorite of singer-songwriter and music star Kenny Rogers, the quintet has opened for a number of major recording artists including John Fogerty and Vince Gill. Drawing influence from Tom Petty, the Eagles, and the Beatles, Savannah Jack offers a new and refreshing take on the country music genre.

Formed in 2004 in Tennessee, Savannah Jack features Don Gatlin on lead vocals, Jay Darby on bass, Matt Thomas Schumacher on fiddle and guitar, Matthew Crouse on drums, and Colin Whinnery on lead guitar. The group has toured nationally and internationally, performing over 120 shows a year to sold-out audiences. Always a crowd favorite, Savannah Jack was named one of the “Top Ten Concerts of 2010” in the Pittsburgh area by Beaver County Times. Previous selectees include Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul McCartney. The latest member of the band, Matt Schumacher, is a talented vocalist as well as a fiddler. Schumacher previously toured with country music star Phil Vassar for seven years.

All from musical families, the members of Savannah Jack are not only exceptional musicians, but accomplished songwriters as well. Their latest album, I Know, was released in 2010. The album masterfully highlights the group’s musical strengths, with songs like “I Can’t Be Your Fool” and “Somewhere Between the Two.” In their performance at The Lyric Theatre, Savannah Jack will perform covers of popular tunes in addition to a selection of their own works. With expertly crafted harmonies, fast-paced fiddling, and smoking guitar solos, Savannah Jack will make you think about country in a whole new way.
